These programs are conceived by us and meticulously planned and developed based on over a quarter of a century of travel industry experience. These trips mean an awful lot to us at Active Travel. We know they will provide life-changing experiences for those who participate. These programs take several forms.

Firstly, we offer a range of trips under the Focussed Journeys brand. These are unique tour programs and are escorted by specialists in their chosen field. Several of our tour hosts are well known personalities, with a background in the arts and science, ceramics, indigenous crafts or photography. Other tour hosts have a passion for walking and the cultures through which you travel. All tour hosts bring their expertise, knowledge, passion and personality to these trips. It’s no surprise, that our Focussed Journeys are amongst the most popular of all the travel options we offer.

We are also very pleased to represent several of the world’s leading tour and cruise operators including Pandaw Cruises – who offer a wonderful array of cruise options on the great rivers of Asia - the Mekong, Irrawaddy and Chindwin. Active Travel have recently been appointed the exclusive Asia-Pacific representative for the Assam Bengal Navigation Company, who offer remarkable river cruises on the Brahmaputra and Hoogly Rivers in India.

Our association with the Australian National University’s Centre for Continuing Education stretches back many years. The ANU-CCU have worked with Active Travel to design and offer a range of unique, practial and enjoyable educational journeys.

Another key partner operating unusual and intersting tour prorams is India Unbound. They specialise in one of the most challenging of all destinations and we are pleased to say, they have the Sub-Continent covered. Thrive travel programs represent yet another dimension  and offer travellers the chance to make a real and lasting difference to people and communities in developing countries, by way of specific community-based projects. In March 2007, Thrive participants renovated an orphanage in Pokhara, Nepal and will return to the continue such work in March 2008.

A significant dimension to the whole Active Travel concept, has been the development of our very own IndoChina Journeys tour program. Since it’s inception in the mid-1980’s we have chosen to go well beyond the tourist trails in one of our favourite regions in the world. For many years, we’ve been sending travellers into the countries of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, China, Sri Lanka and most recently to Bhutan. Many tour companies offer packages to the region.
